The Westbury teenager, who eloped a week ago with her former brother-in-law, is back in the custody of her mother, Sharon Johnson. The teen was released after her mother ventured to the city Thursday morning in search of her.
But before her return home, she was detained at the Suddie Police Station for a few hours while the police questioned her and tried to provide some counseling.
The 8th of May student, who travelled to Georgetown on September 18, last, was staying with a 23-year-old man in a house in Albouystown. The relieved mother said that she left Essequibo for the city and headed straight for the Ruimveldt Police Station.
At the Police station she was able to secure a rank who escorted her to the house at Albouystown, where her daughter was staying. She said her first disappointment arose after she and police ranks approached the house at Albouystown.
Mrs. Johnson said although police searched thoroughly for both her daughter and the 23-year-old man they came up empty handed.
Still confident that her daughter was staying at the same house, the mother said that she made a second visit around 14:00 hours and found her daughter, who has since returned with her to the Essequibo Coast.
Sharon said the 23-year-old man has since eluded the police who are presently pursuing him.
The teen left her mother’s home last week for the city. Her mother said the 23-year-old and her youngest, daughter, the teen, were living together in a common-law relationship for the last three months.
The 23-year-old one shared a common-law relationship with another of the woman’s daughters, Naomi. The two lived for over a year at her Westbury residence.
