– qualified to conduct USATT and GTTA Courses
Former national table tennis player, Sydney Christophe was among 11 United States of America Table Tennis (USATT) Coaches that earned International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) status as Level I Course Conductors, following a recent programme.
Chairman of the USATT Coaching Advisory Committee, Richard McAfee in a release, informed that the eleven participants achieved the status of ‘ITTF Coaching Course Conductors, following the course that was held last week in Colorado Springs, USA.
ITTF Executive Director for Development, Glenn Tepper conducted the sessions that had several important components attached to it.
“In the future, they (the participants) will be able to hold the ITTF Level I Coaching Course in their areas,” the release said.
“These coaches not only had to pass the Level I Course Requirements, but also went through two days of additional training on how to teach the course as well as having to pass the theory and all practical tests, and a written exam,” McAfee informed in the note.
It was revealed that not often so many individuals qualify to become ITTF Course Conductors on the first instance.
“To have so many come out of the first ITTF Course in the United States is one of the testimonies to the quality of the coaches,” the release added.
McAfee applauded the hard work of the participants. Christophe, the only Guyanese that went on the course, is now qualified to conduct Level I coaching courses on both the USATT and Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) circuits upon their request.
