– space to become multi-purpose sport site
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr Frank Anthony yesterday inspected the commencement of work at the parking area inside the Guyana National Stadium where several spaces for various sport disciplines are expected to become available soon.
Much of what was in progress yesterday related to the grading of the site that will be plotted out to the various sport associations for their usage. Anthony said that the idea is part of their holistic development of sport given the space was unoccupied previously.
Anthony was of the view that the Stadium will have a better image once the works are completed according to the Ministry’s idea. He said that sport associations will have to deal with the various programmes that will be accommodated at the National Stadium.
There has been much debate over the fact that, given the available space at the National Stadium, there was much room for additional sport disciplines to be accommodated. The ministry is on the course of having that officially plotted out to sport associations.
