Dear Editor,
As I understand it, a person appearing before a Magistrate charged with an offence – including murder, is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
Further I believe that some offences are not bailable while most others are. Mr. Editor what bothers me is this, is it lawful for a court to refuse to grant bail for an offence which is bailable to a person who is presumed to be innocent, on the grounds of “the prevalence of the offence”.
