Barbados, responding to Guyana’s 204 all out, reached five without loss at the close on the rain-hit opening day of the fourth round of matches in the TCL Group West Indies under-19 three-day cricket tournament in St Lucia yesterday.
Ricardo Adams
Anthony Adams top scored with a 56-ball 66 with 8 fours and a six but although Sattaur 26, Kwame Crosse 21, Dominique Ricky 18, Joemal LaFluer 17 and Skipper Dexter Solomon 16 all got into double figures none of them carried on as the batting again let them down after they were bundled out for 51 by the Windward Islands in their last match.
Asked to bat in overcast conditions, Guyana reached 86-3 by lunch and by tea the South Americans, with 12 regional youth titles under their belts, but none since 2007, had progressed to 166-5 after rain had stopped play at 13.25hrs
Guyana were eventually dismissed off 46.4 overs at 16:20hrs as spinners Roston Chase (4-36 off 13 overs), Jomel Warrican (4-76 off 15.4 overs) and Justin Greaves (2-10 off 6 overs) did the damage for the Bajans.
