King’s optimism still strong
Not someone to make bold predictions, local Group 4 champion Andrew King stayed true to form when quizzed by Kaieteur Sport about his chances of maintaining a firm grip on the division today when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club stages its Meeting at the South Dakota Circuit.
King, who has dominated the category for sometime now, is coming off a disappointing tour of Jamaica where the first leg of the Caribbean Series was held and he no doubt will be looking to regain confidence and his stranglehold ahead of next month’s second edition of the Caribbean Series in Barbados.
Plagued by a host of mechanical problems that prevented him from taking to the track in Jamaica, King told this newspaper recently that the engine has been repaired and despite not being afforded the opportunity to do the desired testing of the car’s performance, the team will still go into today’s Meet with a large degree of optimism.
“We are still confident that we are going to do well so we will see what happens,” King said.
King drives a tube-framed Mazda RX7.
