Police on the East Coast of Demerara are still trying to come up with clues that would lead to the identification of the killers of security guard Ronald Cato called ‘Pepper’.
Cato was found dead early Wednesday morning in a guard hut at Section ‘C’ Enterprise, East Coast Demerara, with his hands and feet tightly bound.
Investigators believe that the 44-year-old man was killed after he put up a struggle with the perpetrators who proceeded to steal six heavy duty batteries from machines that Cato was guarding.
Detectives were initially focusing their attention on characters who are known to be involved in the theft of parts from heavy duty machinery.
However, these probes have reached a dead end since investigators have found nothing to link these characters to a crime of that nature.
Using tracker dogs, investigators had scoured the area, but this was to no avail.
