Dear Editor,
As a tax payer and a responsible citizen it would be appreciated if the publication of results of the National Grade Six Assessment and the Caribbean Secondary Examination Council be done as follows:-
That there be a distinction to show what percentage of the overall results for both the NGSA and the CSEC examinations can be attributed to Private Educational Institutions and what percentage has been the contribution by public educational institutions.
In this way taxpayers would be in a position to ascertain whether the recipients of taxpayers’ revenue have justified their performance in public learning institutions and whether parents have been adequately recompensed for the money spent in the form of fees for their children at private institutions.
To group the results of both private and public learning institutions do not reflect a very true image to the citizens with regards contributions made to education by the public as distinct from the private institutions of learning.
It also does not provide a proper measuring rod for taxpayers to ascertain whether their input to the government coffers justify the results emanating from institutions of learning belonging to the state. Bharat Jaigobin
