Swift actions by resident s of Second Avenue, Bartica, yesterday saved a house from destruction by fire. Reports are that some time after 15:00 hours yesterday, people noticed smoke coming from the windows of a house located at lot 32 Second Avenue, Bartica.
At the time no one was at home so public spirited citizen were forced to kick open the front door to gain entry to the building.
A bucket brigade was immediately formed and the fire which had already caught on the curtains in the building was put out.
According to reports an electric fan may have been the cause of fire.
Meanwhile this recent incident has raised the question of what is the purpose of the Fire Station building which was constructed in the area some time back.
Reports from in the area are that the building has been left like a white elephant and is being use by drug addicts.
