The baby boy whose body was fished out of the Cowan Street, Kingston canal may not have been murdered after all.
Kaieteur News understands that a postmortem conducted yesterday by pathologist, Dr. V. Bridgemohan, revealed that the baby’s throat had not been slit.
According to a source, the pathologist found no marks of violence on the corpse, which was beginning to decompose. The cause of death was undetermined.
Kaieteur News was told that the child was a newborn and not an approximately one-year-old as the police had stated. A police release had also stated that the child’s throat had been slit.
Early last week, a group of schoolchildren spotted the remains floating in the canal and raised an alarm.
The body was wrapped in a blanket at the time of the discovery.
Investigators believe that whoever dumped the body had hoped that it would have washed into the Demerara River when the Kingston koker was opened.
