Max Masters XI dominated Regal Masters to remain unbeaten, while Savage Masters rebounded to defeat Everest Over-40 and there were wins for Industry Super Kings and Enterprise Over-40 when play in the Masters Category of the 4R Masters Cup and females softball cricket, organised by the Guyana Softball League in collaboration with Floodlights Association continued.
Enterprise Over-40 gained a walkover from Saddam XI in an early match. However, Max Masters remained unbeaten after defeating Regal Masters XI later on.
Max Masters XI won the toss and batted scoring a challenging 202-7 in 25 overs with opening batsman Dennis Mangru batting to the end to finish on 132 not out which had 5 sixes and 8 fours being the backbone of the innings.
No other batsman made any other significant score as the next best score was 12 by Vinod Lall. The best bowler was Mahendra Arjune with 2-25 from 5 overs.
In reply Regal Masters XI fell for 137 in the penultimate over of the innings with Mahendra Arjune propping them up with 50 and Lyndon Light 29 in the latter stages being the principled scorers. Ryan Singh took 3-33 from 5 overs and he was supported by Rudy Rodrigues with 2-20 from his 5 overs.
Savage Masters rebounded from their loss last week to Linden to maul Everest CC Over-40 team by 9 wkts in a brutal display of power hitting.
Everest CC won the toss and batted chalking up 184 all out 20 overs. Rajesh Singh held the innings together with a disciplined 67 which included 5 sixes and 3 fours and he was supported by Robin Boodram with 35, the two combining in a partnership of 70. The best bowler for Savage was Wallace Joseph with 3-34 from 3 overs.
In reply Savage Masters from the onset clobbered the bowling to all parts in scoring 186-1 in 11.1 overs with Falim Mohamed leading with 62 not out which included 7 sixes and 2 fours and Hardat Narine 51 with 5 sixes and 3 fours supported well. Bowling for Everest Paul Parsram took 1-30 from 3 overs.
Industry Super Kings gained a walkover from East Bank as the latter failed to show up.
Meanwhile the competition will continue this weekend providing the weather holds.
