Lead by example!
DEAR Editor,
President Jagdeo went to a Surgeons’ Conference and lectured to them on how much we, as a people, live above our means. He is correct. Guyana is a donkey cart economy and we live way, way above our means.
If the President is serious about what he says he can lead by example.
He can start by reducing the unnecessary amount of ministers, sending home those un-necessary advisers in Office of the President, cutting back on all those un-necessary overseas trips, weeding out corruption, when his people steal money put them before the courts, stop building those white elephants and giving jobs to the boys and their families, all on the backs of the poor taxpayers.
And finally, on his retirement he can cut his pension from $1million a month to not more than $500,000, a month, fly commercial rather than first class, pay his utility bills and put a ceiling to the perks the already burdened taxpayers will have to work harder to give him in his post-presidency. This would save the country billions of dollars right away.
Mr. President, if you are committed to have us live within our means, can you lead by example by cutting the government wasteful spending and planned extravagant post-presidency lifestyle?
