The Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) had initially rescheduled its League Final for tonight and not last night as previously reported in this newspaper. The option if it rains tonight will be to play the final tomorrow night.
Current National Division I Club Champions, Wismar Pistons and Kings are expected to play in the final at the Mackenzie Sports Club Court. Victory Valley Royals and Retrieve Raiders are expected to compete in the third place game.
Bad and unpredictable weather in the Mining Town had consistently forced the LABA to adjust its programmes because of the susceptibility of the outdoor venue to rain.
The final was originally set for last Saturday night but was postponed.
Organising Secretary of the LABA, Ashton Angel told this newspaper yesterday that the finals is fix for tonight and not last night as was previously reported. Angel said that they will keep tomorrow night open if rain affects the final.
Kings has senior players, centre Jason Alonzo, forward Marvin Hartman and guard Steve Neils Jr. to give them the impetus against Pistons.
They have gone through some amount of rebuilding and will be keen to prove they are number one.
Pistons are the National Club Champions since winning the competition three years ago, and will look to its usual performers, Quincy Jones, Trevor Profit and guard Nevin Grenville to help them conquer the mighty Kings.
Banks DIH has sponsored the $100,000 first place award while second, third and fourth places are to receive $60,000, $40,000 and $20,000 from the LABA respectively.
