Following the postponement of its Super-Eight semi-finals last Friday night, owing to an escalation in inclement weather, Linden’s Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) were up to yesterday planning to host the event tonight.
Organising Secretary of the LABA, Ashton Angel told Kaieteur Sport that he had spoken to LABA President, Abdulla Hamid, and the latter confirmed that once the weather holds, the semis will be played tonight at the Mackenzie court.
Wismar Pistons are expected to play Victory Valley Royals in tonight’s feature game and
Kings is expected to take on Retrieve Raiders in the preceding game that will also decide which team plays Grand Finale at a date to be announced.
The Final of the event was expected to be played Sunday night but weather again stopped the LABA programme. Hamid had confirmed last week in a separate interview that most, if not all, the necessary systems are in place to host the event.
Banks DIH were identified as the sponsors of the $100,000 first prize while second, third and fourth places are to receive $60,000, $40,000 and $20,000 respectively from the Linden sub-association for the Super-Eight tournament.
