GT&T / Friends Inc, Grass Track Meet postponed
– New date to be announced shortly
This weekend’s GT&T / Friends Inc. Grass Track Race Meet have been postponed to a date to be announced later.
This was the pronouncement made by co-ordinator of the Meet Andre Joseph, who contacted Kaieteur Sport via telephone yesterday morning.
According to Joseph, the local committee met and decided that the current inclement weather which is anticipated to continue over the next few days have left the Ogle Community Centre ground waterlogged thereby severely affecting preparations.
Asked when the new date will be, Joseph said that the Committee will meet once again shortly and decide on a new date.
He added that they had already organised equipment such as a water pump and adequate personnel to assist in pumping any excess water off the ground, but with the weather forecast predicting more rains over the coming days they were forced to postpone the event. A new date is expected to be announced shortly.
