Mr. Harry Harakh of Canada explains the benefits of the bus to Ms. Joan Rodrigues of the Cheshire Home as residents of the Home and members of the Guyana Health and Burncare Charitable Foundation of Toronto look on. Mr. Pradeep Samtani of the Rotary Club is at Mr. Harakh’s right.
The Cheshire Home in Mahaica has acquired a new bus that is capable of transporting persons who are wheelchair-bound.
Through the assistance of Pradeep Samtani, President of the Rotary Club of Georgetown, the bus was sourced through the Guyana Health and Burncare Charitable Foundation in Toronto, Canada.
The white Ford minibus, PMM 5936, is intended for use as an ambulance, and replaces the old bus which had outlived its usefulness ten years ago.
The request to the Rotary Club was made in early July last year, and the bus was handed over to the Cheshire Home yesterday by Mr. Harry Harakh and other members of the Guyana Health and Burncare Charitable Foundation in Toronto, Canada.
Ms. Joan Rodrigues of the Home received it on behalf of the residents and Home’s Management Committee.
An additional bonus for the Home, was the donation of one year’s free insurance for the bus, from Mr. Basil Mahadeo, CEO of Nafico Insurance Co.
