The troupe, including Li’l Champs Hemant, Shreyasi and Yatharth, Afsha Musani, Raja Hassan and musicians coming out of Mumbai India will not be performing at the National Stadium Providence.
The show was initially postponed from yesterday to today, but the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha has announced that the show has altogether been cancelled.
“The promoter, Mr. Malhoe of Suriname…informed us that the artistes would not be coming,” the Sabha said in a statement.
The entire troupe missed their interconnecting flight Friday from Delhi to Holland and Suriname due to heavy air traffic and they were trying to get another flight into Guyana.
“Unfortunately we were told (yesterday) that the flights were full and that the artistes are unable to get any more out of India.
All the children and the other artistes were at the airport for two days and are disappointed as we of the Sabha are in the outcome,” the Sabha added.
Two of the L’il Champs fell sick and had to receive medical attention.
“We explored every avenue available to us to get them here to no avail.
Dharmic Sabha successfully got alternative arrangements to travel outside of the promoter and ZEETV but we were informed that the children had returned to their respective homes in various parts of India. As such, they will not get to Guyana on time in spite of our arrangements,” the Sabha stated.
The Sabha said that it is in discussion directly with ZEETV to have the Lil Champs come to Guyana in the shortest possible time and will keep the public posted on the outcome.
The Sabha said that all persons who purchased VIP tickets will be fully refunded. Persons can present their VIP tickets to the Kendra from Tuesday at 10:00am or Sunday at the Stadium for refund. In addition, six persons can gain entry to today’s show with one VIP ticket.
Andy Singh of Trinidad, Dharmic Nritya Sang, Emerging Voices and top Guyanese singers and all other attractions will form part of today’s programme.
