Ron Forde, who is alleged to have had in his possession one .38 revolver and four matching rounds of ammunition on May 5, last, at Rahaman’s Park was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.
Forde pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that he had the items without being the holder of a firearm licence. He was unrepresented.
Forde told the court that he was never in possession of the firearm or the ammunition. According to the man, he is being framed by a corporal in the police force. He said that he had a confrontation with the lawman and because of that he is being framed. Forde told the court that the corporal threw the gun in the bush then called his colleagues, who later retrieved the weapon in a clump of bushes.
At this point the magistrate inquired from Police Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth, if there were any statements from the police. Ricknauth informed the court that no statements were in the file, even though Forde was charged.
The magistrate ordered the file to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
The matter was adjourned for Monday.
