Dear Editor,
I have been following with great concern, the stubbornness of the PPP/C Administration’s refusal to revisit their decision to award a very lucrative contract to Synergy Holdings Inc. for the Amaila Falls Hydro Electric Project (AFHEP).
Not so long ago, red flags also went up when President Bharrat Jagdeo stubbornly ignored similar warnings, and employed the services of former, and now convicted and disgraced, New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik; despite corruption allegations at the time, which have resulted in his imprisonment in New York.
Given the level of corruption that exists in this government, I wonder what’s in it for those responsible for awarding this contract.
As a patriotic Guyanese, I found it necessary to play my part in furthering the investigation bravely pioneered by Kaieteur News, and did a little research on my own. As a result, I have a few troubling questions that I invite Mr. Makeshwar Fip Motilall to respond to:
1. TIMBERLAND ESTATES INC. is a ghost corporation registered by Makeshwar Fip Motilall on March 13, 2006 (Registration Number: G06072900452) in the State of Florida Division of Corporations, and is listed under ‘Fictitious Name Detail’.
Question: For what purpose would any businessman want to register a company that doesn’t exist?
2. Synergy Energy Solutions Inc. was incorporated on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in the State of Florida, USA., with Makeshwar Fip Motilall as their registered agent, and is listed as a ‘sister company’ to Synergy Holdings Inc.
Synergy Holdings Inc. was registered in New York as Real Estate Appraisers. Although information on this company is very vague, the website was done in 2007.
Question: Considering Mr. Motilall’s background as a Real Estate Broker (Florida Licence Number: 670376), and considering the only large scale project listed on Synergy Energy Solutions website (http://synergyholdings.net/esolutions/default.htm ) is: “The company is currently developing the 150 MW Amaila Falls hydro project in Guyana, South America to power the entire national grid of that country”, can he tell the Guyanese people the name of any other project that Synergy Energy Inc., or Synergy Holdings Inc., has brought to fruition and that can be compared to the size and scope of the Amaila Falls Hydro Electric Project?
3. Anyone familiar with computer graphics as I am knows that a successful, reputable company would never settle for a substandard website design such as Synergy Holdings Inc., (http://synergyholdings.net/) to sell the image of their company.
Question: Why is the Mission Statement on this website so vague and why is the only project mentioned by name, the Amaila Falls Hydro Electric Project which ‘Synergy’ is currently developing’? Is it because there were none before?
Even the choice of the name “Synergy” may be deliberately done to mislead prospective ‘clients’ (or victims) in believing them to be one of the other highly successful companies on the internet, carrying a similar name.
Certainly, this Administration cannot be so naive; hoping that Makeshwar Fip Motilall can actually pull this off without prior experience and equipment, so given their track record, the big question remains: What’s in it for those responsible for awarding this contract?
