Dear Editor,
It is almost one year since Attorney General, Charles Ramson, said that an investigation into Guyana’s biggest convicted drug lord, Roger Khan’s operations here is possible.
When he responded to a question about whether the administration would go after Khan’s assets given that the money laundering legislation has been assented to… and further told the media that the Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene, has to investigate first before the government could move on it as reported in SN on August 23, 2009.
Our Government has already spent millions of tax payer monies to ensure that our Police Force is equipped with all the necessary tools with intelligence and the latest technology to serve and protect our great nation. Most of all to deal with all sorts of crimes especially where drugs are concerned since it destroys the fabric of our nation and tears apart the lives of so many of our young people predominantly youths from the black communities while enriching others in society.
And it is a great concern to all of us today to see that the police force is doing little or even nothing in support with the Government’s good effort in taking drugs of our streets since these drugs are associated with guns, robberies, crimes and senseless killings and do no good to our great nation.
It is very atypical why the Commissioner of Police would be refusing to start an investigation after all these months have passed into Roger Khan’s assets here and those of other convicted drug-traffickers in the US, although the Attorney General Charles Ramson said an investigation into drug lord Roger Khan’s operations here is possible.
