Guyana remained unbeaten at the Caribbean Netball Association (CNA) Under-16 Championship when they defeated Cayman Island by 25 goals to 24 in their 3rd game on Wednesday in Barbados.
Scoring for Guyana was Goal Shooter Kristy Roberts with 15 goals from 23 attempts and Goal Attack Shonette Estwick 10 from 18 attempts.
At the end of the first quarter Guyana trailed 4-7 and the Cayman Islands maintained their advantage at the end of the second as they led 12-10.
However, the Guyanese known for their late rallies produced another such performance and took the lead at the completion of the third stanza with an 18-16 edge. They maintained their slim lead until the final whistle sounded.
Guyana next game was against Bermuda and that was scheduled for yesterday, while today they face St Kitts and tomorrow is a rematch against the Cayman Islands.
Meanwhile in the shooting competition, Guyana placed 4th behind Trinidad, Jamaica and Barbados with 69.2% accuracy.
The leaders had scores of 80%, 72.7% and 71.9%. The other teams participating were St Vincent, St Lucia, Dominica, Grenada, Cayman Is, St Kitts and Bermuda.Of the 33 shooters which took part, the Guyanese placed 13th (Shameza Subrattie), 14th (Shonette Estwick) and 21st (Kristy Roberts) based on numbers of goals scored, but in terms of accuracy, Shonette Estwick led with 75%, Shameeza Subrattie with 67.86% and Kristy Roberts with 66.04% accuracy.
