Fitness Walk set for April 25
Telephone giants, Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company (GT&T) under its Cellink brand yesterday officially announced that they have linked with the Hugh Ross Classic Bodybuilding & Fitness competition.
Wystan Robertson Director of Marketing and Sales who made the announcement at yesterday’s press conference held at the entity’s Canteen, Hadfield Street reminded the media that the name Hugh Ross is a name that is well known throughout Guyana and he is one of the nation’s most celebrated Bodybuilders and a true Guyanese patriot.
“Hugh as an individual thinks that Guyana has contributed to him tremendously and wants to give back in very tangible ways, in this case through the sport that has brought him international glory. Hugh Ross often talks about making Guyana a healthier place and his contributions, lifestyle and training have always epitomized that.”
GT&T he said is delighted to be on board and will be lending support apart from the actual night of competition, to the proposed health and fitness walk set for April 25, 2010.
The second edition of the Hugh Ross Classic is set for Sunday May 2, 2010 at the National Cultural Centre from 19:00hrs. An exhibition featuring products and services offered by the various sponsors of the event will begin at 17:30hrs in the foyer of the National Cultural Centre (NCC).Competitors, male and female will flex muscles in six categories; female will compete in the Miss Body Fitness competition while the male athletes will compete in the Bantamweight (Under 143 pounds); Lightweight (144 – 154); Welterweight (155 – 165); Light Middleweight (166 – 176) and Heavyweight (Over 176).
Robertson also noted that, “We at GT&T of course are extremely pleased to partner with such a positive role model in Guyana as well as to partner with an event that allows Guyana and bodybuilders to show and display their months and years of hard work engaging in something that is meaningful to an outcome that can be celebrated in a competition such as this.”
“We see this as a Guyanese event and as a Guyanese company it is something that we embrace as it promotes the welfare and greater benefits to the youth of this country. To be able to help build this society of ours.” Cellink will also be providing tee shirts for the Fitness Walk; a mobile savings fair on the day of competition at the NCC whether customers will be able to purchase handsets at attractive prices apart from other attractions.
An arm wrestling competition will also take place on competition night for male and female patrons attending the activity.
Public Relations and Marketing Officer of the HRC Committee Franklin Wilson offered thanks to GT&T for partnering with the HRC to ensure the success of the event come May 2 and the Fitness Walk on April 25.
