Dear Editor,
One of the responsibilities of owning and driving a motor vehicle is parking it safely, correctly and legally. So I am always amazed at the people who still insist on parking badly or even illegally all the time.
There is a huge problem with motorists parking illegally in front of a particular supermarket and surroundings on Sheriff Street. Although that supermarket provides a means of commodity to the general public, motorists needs to pay attention to where they park their vehicles?
It can seriously affect the quality of life for residents, motorist and pedestrians if actions are not taken by the relevant authorities. What is it about the fire hydrants, the road signs, and the street junction that motorists don’t understand?
Motor vehicles are parked right next to the fire hydrant and less than five feet from the junction, why aren’t these motorists charged for illegal parking?
But as you may know we as Guyanese wait for something bad to happen before addressing the problem. So I am appealing to the relevant authorities please, look into this matter, you know the saying, prevention is always better than cure.
