GCC defeated Vikings and lost to DCC over the weekend in their opening matches in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Haier Cup 40-overs second division cricket tournament sponsored by Queensway.
On Saturday GCC managed 221-9 with Clevon Hyman 63, Parmanand Ramkissoon 32, Winston Forrester (30), Trevon France (24), Delon Fernandes (19) and Raphael Singh (18) getting among the runs.
Medium pacer Shoib Juman Yassin took 2-32 from 5 overs, Daniel Downes 2-46 from 8 overs and Dwayne Yan 2-29 from 6 overs for Vikings who made 122 all out to lose by 100 runs.
Ryan Hemraj top scored with 52 in a losing cause as left-arm spinner Trevon France bagged 7-19 from 7.3 overs and got support from Fernandes who took 2-42 from his 6 overs.
On Sunday, Yannick Grimes made 29 while Forrester (23), Alex Ramalho (22) and Ram Ramkissoon (23) all failed to build on good starts for GCC who fell for 185 in 35 overs.
Off-spinner Denis Squires and Kevin George took two wickets each for host DCC who replied with 189-8 off 37 overs to win by two wickets.
France was again among the wickets with 2-34 while Forrester grabbed 3-33 in a losing effort for the Bourda boys.
