Relatives of 60-year old Lennox Campbell, of 225 Eccles East Bank Demerara are praying that the police apprehend the female driver, who struck him down and left him in a pile of bushes, on the Huston Public Road, East Bank Demerara.
Campbell, who is nursing a fractured hip and leg, yesterday told Kaieteur News that he was riding his bicycle on Friday morning when he was struck from behind.
He described the vehicle as a wagon car and the driver as a fair-skinned Indian woman. The man further claims that after he was struck down, the woman came out of the vehicle and dragged him in the bushes and left him there.
He said that he asked the woman if she was not taking him to the hospital, but the woman said she had things in her vehicle and could not take him.
“She say she coming back to take me”.
Campbell stayed in the bushes for almost four hours as vehicles mistook him for a vagrant. As luck would have it, a friend passed and saw the injured man, and Campbell related what had happened. The friend left and returned with a vehicle and assisted to take him to the hospital.
Campbell’s nephew later made a report at the police station and the police are presently investigating the accident.
