Reigning Group 4 champion Andrew King driving his tube-framed Mazda RX7 secured pole position after producing a blistering drive during qualifying sessions yesterday, at the South Dakota Circuit.
King registered the quickest time of 35.304 seconds to relegate his main rival Mark Vieira into second place on the grid after he clocked 35.728, while Kevin Jeffrey, who many regard as a potential spoiler, recorded 36.254 seconds to start behind the two.
In Group 3, defending champion Ryan Rahaman clocked the fastest time of 36.3 seconds which was almost two seconds quicker than second place Kamal Seebarran, who registered 38.1, while US-based Kem Lall with 45.1 seconds will set off third on the grid.
In Group 2B, Danny Persaud clocked 40.227 seconds to grab pole position and he will be followed by Keeron Rodrigues 40.269 and Afraz Allie 40.375.
In Group 2A, Raymond Ali returned 40.237 seconds to lock in pole position with the veteran Jad Rahaman 40.283 seconds and Chet Singh 40.789 trailing in that order.
In the go-karts category, Alex Fiedtkou will start on pole ahead of Jerry Max Gouveia and Nikil Seereean.
Soren Griffith led the rookies tracked by Shayne Seebarran and Raj Singh in that order.
