RHT Gizmos & Gadgets to play Albion
The historic Port Mourant Cricket Ground, home to a number of cricketing Legends would come alive on Saturday when arch rivals Albion Community Centre and Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets (RHTG&G) clash in the final of the Ramcharitar Construction / Berbice Cricket Board organised 40 overs first-division competition.
The match promises to be exciting despite the fact that both teams would be missing several senior players due to injuries, West Indies commitment and overseas contracts.
Albion would be without the services of West Indies all rounder Narsingh Deonarine and the injured Veerasammy Permaul but still have a strong team on paper which includes the likes of skipper Orvin Mangru in charge of a well balanced team.
West Indies Opener Sewnarine Chattergoon will lead the batting with support from his brothers Ramnarine and Harrinarine, Manoj Pooranauth, Mangru and all rounder Devendra Bishoo. National leg spinner Bishoo will be at the helm of the bowling attack in the absence of Permaul and will be ably supported by off spinners Mangru, Ramnarine and Harrinarine Chattergoon; medium pacer Doodnauth Lallbeharry and left arm spinner Satesh Dwarka.
RHT Gizmos & Gadgets challenge would be carried by National left handed batsman Assad Fudadin with backing in the batting department by the experienced Khemraj Mahadeo, Jason Sinclair, Clinton Pestano, Dominic Rickey, Eon Hooper, Loyden Lewis and Terrence Madramootoo.
Medium pacers Eon Gibson and Madramootoo would share the new ball while off spinners Hooper, Troy Mathieson, Fudadin, Loyden Lewis and leg spinner Ravi Narine will compliment the attack on a pitch which is expected to be slow in nature.
Umpires for the match are Dhieranidranauth Somwaru and Clement Brusch.
Sponsor, Contractor Annirud Ramcharitar of Friendship Village will meet both teams before the start of play on Saturday. The winner receives $60,000 and a trophy, runner-up $30,000 while player of the finals will collect $5,000 and a trophy.
