Dear Editor,
Why are some making a mountain out of a molehill? If, according to Mr. Ramkarran, the Constitution of Guyana provides overseas Guyanese the right to exercise their franchise, then so be it.
Constitutional Right is not a favour bestowed on Guyanese overseas.
In the Burnham era, overseas votes were handled by the ruling party which led to many irregularities.
Some now remember those days and are scared that the present ruling party may repeat same should overseas voting be re-introduced.
However, dis time na lang time, Guyana has moved to establish GECOM which handles all voting so there should no fear in the minds of Guyanese that the PPP will rig the election with overseas voting.
Guyana has made tremendous progress with regards to the electoral process in order that democracy may prevail, so let’s give Jack his jacket and bring the votes in. May the best party win.
Long live democracy in Guyana. Ameer Bacchus
