Amelia’s Ward Jets’ and national junior captain Akeem ‘The Dream’ Kanhai took control in the final minutes of the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) U-19 Final to lead his team to the Championship title Saturday night.

Jets evaded Raiders with a 53-47 points’ win with Kanhai scoring the last six points in his 13-point performance to ensure his team comfortably gets home. Parish Cadogan finished with 18 points while Jamaal Watson had 10 points.
Jeffrey LaRose continued his prolific scoring in the tournament for Raiders with 22 points as Yannick Primo added 10 points as the duo ran out of potency and offensive options in the final minutes of the mega and tough title game.
Kanhai was subsequently voted the Most Valuable Player in front of the huge crowd that turned up at the Mackenzie Sports Club Court to witness the game. Jets got trophies and replicas for their achievement while Raiders got a trophy.
In the third place game, Marlon Pollydore led Royals to a 59-31 triumph against Block 22 Flames with Linnel Wardon scoring 12 points and Theodore Tappin adding 10 points for winners. Remington Wade had 14 points for Flames.
