National players to conduct sessions every Saturday
Last year the Malteenoes Sport Club revived its rich tradition of competitive table tennis at the club by establishing a modern playing and training facility.
The first initiative was a 6-week team competition in collaboration with the Guyana Table Tennis Association. The club then began a special training programme for a few of Guyana top junior players.

In an effort to expand the game’s reach within the sporting community and society in general the club this month launched a year-round table tennis academy.
This academy will feature the leading current and former national players like Idi Lewis, Christopher Franklin, Dwayne Dick and Lisa Lewis conducting comprehensive coaching sessions over six week periods on Saturday afternoons.
Participants will be exposed to the rigid training routines and finer points necessary to start and improve one’s game. Each coaching session will cater for 25 participants.
Youths interested in participating in this exciting event are asked to call Lisa Lewis (623-7111), Christopher Franklin (643-4085) or Dwayne Dick (642-3288) for further information.
