Misleading statements about gold declaration
Dear Editor,
Mr Mac Mahase’s letter which appeared in last Sunday’s (January 31) Kaieteur News, about declaration to the Gold Board, is very misleading to say the least. Without investigating the facts for himself he has joined others who perhaps have their own personal or political reasons in peddling this lie.
If you were to investigate “.high” gold declaration by the very few so-called “large producers” you would find that 90% of them do not even own one dredge. They in fact, buy gold from the many small miners. This they sell to the Gold Board or do their own export of the metal.
The other misleading statement being fed to the public is that all the Brazilian miners smuggle their gold out of the country.
The records would show that the majority of these miners also sell their gold to these very so-called “large producers” who get all the credit for the exceptionally high declaration of gold.
