Led by a blistering unbeaten 51 from Captain Carlotta Lee John, Telephone House (Fibre Optic) won the Sonita Jagan trophy and bragging rights after defeating Customer Services (Supa Nova) by 23 runs on Tuesday, at the DCC round in Queenstown. Played as part of the GT&T 19th Anniversary celebrations, the much hyped Ladies clash which was watched by a fair-sized and supportive crowd that clearly exceeded the numbers witnessed at local First Division matches, Lee John hammered a belligerent half century laced with 10 scorching fours as she and Vispattie Balwan took their team to a challenging 87-4 off the allotted 10 overs.
Bowling for Supa Nova, Dawn Caines grabbed 2-20 off 2 overs. Needing 88 for victory, Supa Nova never threatened and closed on 61-4 when the overs expired.
Leeann Abrams 14 not out with 2 fours, Otesha Jackman 13 * and Caines 11 were the principal contributors.
Lee John was later voted the Player-of-the-Match.
