National ruggers have busy weekend
Head Coach Joe Whipple of the West Indies Rugby team was expected to arrive in Guyana yesterday to resume his technical service to the National Rugby squad currently preparing to contest the IRB Sevens Series in Las Vegas, USA from February 13-14.
The Technical Director will spend the weekend spearheading the team’s preparations ahead of the tour and he will be assisted by National Coach Laurie Adonis and his Assistant Coach Clinton Clarke.
The Guyana Rugby Football Union released a schedule for Coach Whipple’s visit which will be as follows:
This afternoon from 16:00 hrs at the National Park:
Practice – Emphasis on tackle techniques, defensive alignment and contact zone.
Tomorrow’s sessions which starts at 09:00 hrs will include Practice at the National Park (offensive patterns, Lineout’s, scrimmage), while at 15:30 hrs there will be a practice match.
The following day at the same venue, commencing from 09:00 hrs Coach Whipple will continue practice sessions, while from11:00 hrs the players will watch video analysis at the Guyana Motor Racing& Sports Club (GMR&SC) with another practice game at the National Park from 15:30 hrs.
Coach Whipple’s visit will conclude with an indoor session at the GMR&SC at 17:30 hrs.
