A date has been set for the much-anticipated Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Elections following a meeting on Sunday among the necessary major stakeholders.
A source, who attended the meeting, told Kaieteur Sport that a date was set for February 14 while acting President, David Patterson has made himself available for the top post at the historic AGM and Elections next month. “Patterson is available for the Presidency as far as I know,” the source said, adding that the Elections and the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Meeting this month end took up the lion’s share of the discussions Sunday.
This newspaper understands that the GABF is mulling an attendance at the meeting. The Federation’s election was to have been early last year, but that was tripped up in the death of President, Retired Colonel Godwin McPherson.
McPherson had functioned in the post for 19 years before his demise. The Election of a new head will mark a changing of the guard in almost two decades. Patterson was a First Vice-President in McPherson’s administration.
