Dear Editor,
What a joke! Ask the Minister why the Ministry of Agriculture cannot get the USDA to remove the restrictions on the importation of beef from Guyana to the USA.
The Animal Products Manual states beef is restricted from The Republic of Guyana, because of Foot and Mouth Disease, even though Guyana was declared free of the disease.
When the USDA questioned why there was a restriction on beef from Guyana, the reply was the USA has a political embargo against Guyana. What hogwash.
The government does not have the know how or will to get this corrected. So when I read about the bill in Parliament I laugh and say these folks are a bunch of clowns.
