A man was yesterday remanded for wounding his girlfriend after he pleaded guilty before Acting chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
Dwayne Lane, 31, of 22 Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson to answer a charge of unlawful wounding.
It is alleged that on December 29, Lane unlawfully and maliciously wounded Elisha Leitch. Lane was unrepresented and pleaded guilty to the charge.
He explained that he indeed knocked Leitch, but it was because she was avoiding him. He added that the injuries she sustained were not from him but as a result of her shades which broke and cut her face.
After his explanation the magistrate entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and he was remanded. Lane is expected to return to court on Monday.
