Another road fatality in Berbice
As 2009 draws to an end, the West Coast of Berbice roadway has claimed yet another life. The latest victim is 53-year old Brendel Hutson of Eldorado Village on the West Coast of Berbice. The driver of the car involved was detained as the probe continues.
According to police reports, the victim was in the process of getting to the other side of the Eldorado Village Public Road about 17:40 hours on Monday when he was hit by a car. It is alleged that the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol and had just left the liquor parlour.
The vehicle was heading north along the western side of the public road while Hutson was attempting to cross from the western to the eastern side.
He was subsequently rushed to Cottage, Mahaicony Hospital in a critical state and moments later pronounced dead.
