Unseeded Guyanese Nicolette Fernandes ended the run of Egyptian qualifier Farah Abdel Meguid to claim the women’s crown at the 2009 Greek Open Squash Championships in Athens, Greece.
Fernandes beat Meguid 11/7 11/2 6/11 11/5 to capture the title, while another Egyptian youngster Karim Abdel Gawad overcame England’s Mark Fuller in four games to win the men’s final and justify his top billing.
