Dear Editor,
Thanks for publishing my letter regarding the deplorable state of the Rosignol Post Office. I am hopeful that those in authority will make the appropriate response.
I wish to express deep satisfaction to those responsible for the maintenance of the public facility located in the Stabroek area, opposite the Fire Station. As I was about to enter, I hesitated momentarily, wondering if I was entering someone’s modest apartment. The smell was pleasant, the walls and floor very clean and decorated for Christmas with the requisite blinking lights and glistening streamers. In such an atmosphere the intended task with be less stressful.
On top of that the two, who were present, were their very best Guyanese self, hospitable and courteous. As I pondered this experience, I recall what my grandmother used to say to me when I was growing up, “Yuh nah gat to be rich to be clean and tidy.” She was right. Keep it up “Moms”.
By the way, I observed some work being done on the sanitary facilities, “On the wrong side of the Berbice Bridge.” Ovid Schultz
