Driver of HB 49, Arnold Singh, 40 of Enmore East Coast Demerara was pinned in his car after it was hit by a Toyota minibus BHH 3035 at the corner of Light and Second Streets, Alberttown, shortly after 18:00hrs.
The bus driver, Fontanel Phillips, said, “I was driving and had the right away. While approaching the junction a car jumped the stop sign painted on the ground and I hit it.”
According to residents from the area, the taxi driver, who seemed to be intoxicated, was abusive to some schoolchildren while driving and was not focusing on the road. This caused the accident.
When reporters saw the taxi driver he was still trapped in his vehicle and seemed dazed and unable to properly recollect what had happened.
