After undertaking corrective action for some time, the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) was on Tuesday last able to complete repairs to a broken water main on an unoccupied plot of land at Blue Berry Hill, Wismar, Linden.
In a statement issued by the water company, GWI’s Linden Division completed repairs to the broken main. The statement added, “The GWI Linden Team made several efforts to rectify the broken main with varying levels of success; we are pleased to inform the residents of Blue Berry Hill that the main is now fixed and fully operational.” “
According to Divisional Manager, Rawle Friday, “Following repairs, the area was fumigated to eliminate any possible health threats, adding that residents can now rest assured that the problem has been entirely rectified.
The water company has nonetheless, through its Chief Executive, Yuri Chandisingh, apologised to all residents who were affected within the vicinity for any discomfort and inconvenience.
“We wish to convey to the affected residents of Blue Berry Hill our sincere apology for any inconvenience they may have suffered as a result of the broken main within the unoccupied portion of land. It is aim at GWI to rectify such problems in the swiftest manner possible in the interest of preventing wastage. Measures have been implemented to ensure that such an occurrence would not be repeated.”
According to Chandisingh, customers can be assured that every effort will be made in the interest of rectifying leaks and other problems within our distribution system in a timely and effective manner.
The Chief Executive further stated, that “customers across Guyana can be assured that such matters will be treated with urgency, and disclosed that divisional teams have been placed on full alert to avoid a recurrence of such a situation.”
