Another road accident at Mahaicony has left a nine-year-old critical in the Intensive Care Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital, after he sustained head injuries as a result of the accident.
Nine-year-old, Sunil Singh, of 21 Railway Mahaicony, was struck by a Canter truck yesterday at around 12:00hrs.
According to the mother, Ramrattie Tiwari, who witnessed the entire incident, “he was coming home for lunch, about to cross the road opposite my house when a Canter truck pick he up inside de corner.”
Some public-spirited citizens, who saw the commotion, intervened and rushed the young lad who was vomiting blood and also bleeding through his ear and nose to the Mahaicony Public Hospital by a car where he was treated and rushed to the GPHC for further treatment.
According to the mother, Singh who attends Mahaicony Primary School is the youngest of four, and lost his father two years ago.
The driver was later apprehended by the police and taken to the Mahaicony Police Station where he was locked up.
