Last weekend’s Amerindian Heritage Month softball cricket match played at Orealla between Floodlights XI, Vishnu Superstore of Corriverton and Orealla was won by the Floodlights XI.
In the first match Floodlights won the toss and batted making 169 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs with Dindial Lakhan top scoring with a brilliant 87 and Steve Narine supported with 20 runs.
Vishnu Superstore were restricted to 136 for 9 when their overs expired. Man-of-the-tournament Vicky Ramsaywack did the damage with 5 for 20 and he was supported by Mike Singh and Ramchand Ragbeer with 2 wickets each.
The final between Orealla and Floodlights was reduced to 5 overs per side due to limited time. Orealla batted first made 45 runs in 5 overs. Floodlights XI requiring 12 runs in the 5th and final over to win with Kemal Seebaran and Ramchand Ragbeer at the crease brought home their team to victory by running six doubles. In between these two games there was a 7 overs female softball game played by Orealla Females and Corriverton Queens. Orealla Females batted first, made 45 runs which was wiped off by Corriverton Queens in 5 overs with Christine Matheson top scoring with 19. The matches were organized by Corentyne River Tours (CORTOURS) and trophies sponsored by 4R of 18 Duncan Street, Campbellville.
