Calls on CARICOM to commence discussions at earliest opportunity
The West Indies Cricket Board’s (WICB) Board of Directors has expressed its appreciation to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on Cricket (PMSC) for the continuing efforts to resolve the current impasse between WICB and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) and looks forward to a more successful resolution process.
The President of the WICB, Dr Julian Hunte, advised that after having had discussions with CARICOM, the WICB’s Board of Directors has accepted the recommendations of CARICOM and has asked CARICOM to commence discussions with a view to resolving the impasse at the earliest opportunity.
According to Hunte, the WICB is anxious to hold an initial meeting to discuss a roadmap which fulfills the meaning and intent of the CARICOM recommendations.
The President further explained that despite certain reservations on recommendation (b), WICB is committed to finding a common understanding and a satisfactory mechanism for resolving all of the issues in dispute.
