Dear Editor,
I wish to draw your attention that CID Ranks in Georgetown are using their offices to settle matters of civil nature and in the process using threats of incarceration and demanding with menace from victims. Mr. Editor you may be shocked to learn CID Ranks enforce the payment of house rent, and threaten to lock up citizen for breach of written contracts.
A few days ago a friend of mine had to call Police Commissioner Greene, when a female Detective Corporal from Brickdam, accompanied a landlord to evict a tenant, even though there was no court order. The commissioner promptly intervened and had the Corporal report to his office at 7:30 pm the very night, where a confrontation was held and witnessed by senior officers.
Mr. Greene must be congratulated for his efforts to stamp out corruption in the force. I beg that Mr. Greene direct his attention to CID headquarters, where this practice is rampant.
I must also take this opportunity to congratulate Detective Inspector, Simeon Reid of CID, who is in charge of the fraud section. This officer acts fairly and impartially, and promptly advises persons who make reports, when a matter is a private one.
The public is pleased with your effort to weed out all ‘Defectives’ from CID, Mr. Commissioner Parman and Jaisingh
