Amelia’s Ward Front Scheme record first win
MCYS Inter-Block Basketball continues tonight
Amelia’s Ward Front Scheme registered its first win against Watooka/Constab Combined in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport’s (MCYS) inaugural Inter-Block Basketball Championship at the Mackenzie Sports Club Friday night.
Front Scheme rebounded from its loss against their counterparts, Amelia’s Ward Back Scheme in their opening game to record a 73-65 victory when they played Watooka/Constab in their second game of the introductory competition in Linden.
Lawrence DeCosta led Front Scheme offence with 15 points while Chris DeCosta had 13 points and Kevin Singall 10 points. Nationally acclaimed senior point guard, Kevin Joseph played from behind with nine points for his Front Scheme unit.
The tournament, which is geared at unearthing new talent in the sport, witnessed Darwin Lovell in a 23-point performance for Watooka/Constab Combined while Donnel McPherson supported with 21 points. Kenneth Charles scored 12 points.
In the second game of the double-header, national forward Trevor Profitt led Silvertown Scheme to a 58-40 points’ win against Block 22/Wisroc when he amassed a game-high 23 points. He got support from Allister Webster, who scored 12 in the game.
Devon Morrison was the only player in the double figures for Block 22 with 10 points. The event continues tonight with another double-header that will witness Block 22/Wisroc taking on Valley in the feature encounter at the same venue.
Half Mile/Canvas City are expected to play Silvertown Scheme in the first game. Last Saturday night’s games were postponed due to rainfall. Those games will be re-scheduled and announced at some point during this week.
