De other day dem boys decide to pass by a church. Dem had a few drinks and during the conversation dem decide dat dem would try and change dem ways. Somebody tell dem dat it sinful suh dem decide dat perhaps de people right.
Dem sit down in de pew at de back and dem hear de pastor telling people how de wages of sin is death. Well right away dem get de idea dat if dem stop sinning dem would not die.
De pastor reach de stage wheh he start fuh ask fuh a collection to help de less fortunate people in de world. He tell dem dat he ain’t want no small change.
People dive in dem purse and wallet and even dem pocket. De collection plate look nice. Was a tidy haul. Then de man start fuh sing a hymn. “Bring all your troubles to me and I will take them away.” This day de troubles were many because people start fuh stand up and complain how dem can’t pay dem rent and how dem can’t buy food.
Dem boys was shame suh dem decide to ketch de pastor at a neutral venue.
Well if dem think dem was going to get any of de collection dem lie.
This time de pastor hand full of gold and he suit was equal to about five month’s rent. Is when de man lef de church and go home to Sister Ruby who husband dead dat dem boys get second thoughts. But dem decide to continue to de door anyhow. When dem knock Sister Ruby come out with a see through nightgown. Dem see de pastor in he shorts running in a back room.
When dem corner he de next day he claim how is not a sin to indulge in a li’l wine now and then. Well dem boys seh dat he had to really wine dat night from de way Sister Ruby look.
Is de same thing wid de man who control GRA. He announce dat he gun tek on all de corruption in Guyana. Well dem boys seh dat he really tek on de corruption because almost all he Customs officers dipping dem hand in de pot.
Dem boys seh dat he got he hand full and by de time he done he investigation in he own department is time fuh he retire. But it look like if he ignoring wha deh right under he nose and want to tek on wha deh outside.
Is de same thing wid dem pastor. Dem ignoring dem own sin and trying fuh cleanse other people of dem own.
De last time was Bharrat who had to step in and help clean up Khurshid place. Bharrat bring out de lie detector and ignore dem big boy who, according to some of dem people in Guyana, woulda fail de test even before dey tek it. Yet, dem boys smiling, because Khurshid play a master stroke. If people carry news of corruption against anyone, then he got de option fuh decide who he gun investigate and who gun got to talk to he properly.
For example, Uncle Adam go to he wid a report bout a very junior woman who buy a house fuh $60 million. Khurshid explain dat if somebody pay dem tax overseas then dem don’t have to pay de same tax in Guyana. But de same Khurshid claim dat according to law, if a Guyanese get a gift over a certain amount, he got to pay taxes.
Well dem boys still waiting fuh de report on de investigation. Dem doubt dat it even start.
He also got to investigate some of dem who get rich suddenly. These people got to pay taxes and all these years Khurshid ignore dem and it had to tek VAT fuh ketch up wid some of dem although de same VAT deh killing de ordinary man who been paying he taxes all the time.
And wha mek dem boys feeling funny is dat Khurshid does get vex when people talk bout he. He does carry on and complain and he does use he powers to go after dem. Is a good thing dem ain’t got nutten otherwise dem woulda end up in jail fuh tax evasion.
Khurshid earning more than dem boys. He don’t drink and he don’t smoke. But he got to do something wid he money because he can’t carry it when he going. He got to be doing something. Dat is wha dem boys seh.
Perhaps he using it to build a shed to spy on all de corruption in Guyana.
