Dear Editor,
I see my old friend Dr. Randy Persaud has decided to use his academic preparation and formal training to serve as a spin doctor for the PPP.
This is the same Dr Persaud who went around the Maryland/DC area a few years ago posing as a race neutral figure wanting to bring various factions of the Guyanese Diaspora in that area together. Even then we were amused at Dr. Persaud transparency… we knew his agenda.
Now the good doctor has given up his professorial job at the American University in Washington, DC for a cozy job in the Office of the President.
From behind this fortress he is attempting to spin straw into gold much like the famous character in the Grimm brother’s fairy Tale.
In his pursuit, Dr Randy tries to defend the PPP’s abysmal record, one fraught with allegations of corruption, murder, human rights abuses, and drug scandals.
He tries to do this by attempting to shift the attention away from his Party’s incompetence to the AFC. In so doing he attacks the messenger.
Thus he asks is his recent article (“AFC in a pickle”, Kaieteur news 08/25/09) where does the AFC stand on rigged elections? With the full knowledge that the AFC has never rigged nor has ever been accused of rigging an election; Dr Persaud is clearly grasping at straws (perhaps the same straw he plans to spin into gold). With all due respect sir, your guilt by association tactic is again quite transparent.
This strategy is tired and worn out, and the people are much wiser.
In fact, I’m sure that this shady tactic will be seen by many as unbecoming and dishonourable.
For Dr. Persaud’s benefit however; like the noble Brutus, he has probably convinced himself that he is doing all of this spinning for the good of his country.
