Dear Editor,
I respond to a letter written by Emile Mervin in Kaieteur News (August 27) besmirching my reputation as a defender of the PPP administration. It appears that Mervin has now joined Freddie Kissoon as a regular contributor who makes claims, assertions and allegations without evidence.
Mervin is an exceptional writer and intellects have spoken highly about his analytical and prosaic ability. But he will destroy these credentials if he is going to make claims that are illogical, irrational and without merit. I suggest Mervin rethinks the comments and conclusions he makes and avoid penning untruths. Mervin writes: “… Persaud appears to be the latest addition (Prem Misir and Vishnu Bisram are already on board) to the growing list of writers retained by the Government to defend its indefensible image in the run up to the 2011 elections”.
Does he have any evidence that Bisram is retained by the government? Can he cite examples in which Bisram has defended the government? These claims are a figment of Mervin’s imagination.
Let it be known that the government has not hired Vishnu Bisram for any tasks, least of all relating to the 2011 elections. On numerous occasions, I penned (most recently on Tuesday) several letters indicating I have serious issues with the PPP administration. Unless Mervin has substantive evidence, he should not make false claims and illogical assertions and deductions. Vishnu Bisram
