A 46-year-old female office assistant was knocked unconscious by one of two bandits during a scuffle which led to her unmasking one of the men.
Reports are that the woman, Genevieve Mc Bean, was attacked by two men, one of whom was armed with a knife, early Thursday morning as she was opening up her Hope For All Office at Suddie, Essequibo Coast.
Sources told this newspaper that as the woman was about to open her office, one man wearing a mask pounced on her and she immediately engaged the man in a scuffle, during which she manage to pull off the man’s mask.
After the man realised that the woman recognised him, he pulled out a knife and attacked the woman.
The two scuffled, during which the woman received a minor cut. The man then picked up a piece of wood and clubbed the woman to her head, knocking her unconscious.
The knife-wielding bandit was joined by another man.
The woman was eventually revived by her colleagues who turned up for work almost an hour later. The matter was reported and the bandit who was unmasked was later picked up by the police. All told the bandits got $7,000 for their efforts.
Up to press time yesterday the other suspect was not yet arrested.
Meanwhile, charges are likely for the suspect who has been arrested.
